Try looking at 
   1) related sections in FAQ
   2) my notes about DJGPP port of gcc-2.95.1 at
       http://www.lanet.lv/~pavenis/djgpp/gcc/gcc-2.95.1.html
      (it's about gcc-2.95.1 but most is generally true also for 2.95)
