Unless the problem is the binary compatibility of the files that your
word processor produces, Emacs can fill this niche as well.  It has a
WYSIWYG editing mode (try `M-x enriched-mode RET').  Coupled with
ps-print and a PostScript printer or interpreter, this produces
beautiful hard copies.
