Ok the path variable is set correctly the project I am working on is in
c:\Projects so when I compile I go to dos and swtitch to my c:\projects
folder and enter:

gcc -o c:\projects\helloworld.exe c:\projects\helloworld.c

and it gives me the same error as the one described in the original post.
