One legacy bug still in Word97 traces its ancestry directly to Winword
1.0 and DOS4's SHARE bug. And that's just one leetle bit of old code
that needs to be cleaned out. Someone dismangled RegClean and found of
its 800+k only 47k were required for the program's full functionality;
all the rest was irrelevant leftovers. If you ask me, even just these
two examples indicate a codebase in desperate need of a thorough 
housecleaning.
