This time it isn't exactly a rumour. "There will no longer be any DOS of
any description, including the DOS box" or words to that direct effect
were part of the M$ rep's promotional spiel on WinBalls^H^H^H^H^H 2000
at a M$ Technet seminar I attended back about April or so.
