But the only thing stupider and more annoying than spam is posting a 
response that is intended for the spammer to read.

Spammers don't read the newsgroups they spam. If you want to do something 
useful, read the headers, figure out whence the spam was posted, and 
complain to the administrator. Otherwise, save the bandwidth.
