Besides seeing that you are using quite an old version of the compilator,
I haven't the slightest clue why it isn't working.

What version was the library compiled (gcc) and archived (ar) with?

Try upgrading to gcc281b.zip (or even perhaps gcc295b.zip) and the latest
bnu*b.zip.
