Code generated by Borland compilers is really bad optimized. Borland compilers are in the group of
"worst optimizer" (Symantec is other). gcc and Watcom are in the middle MSVC and Intel are the best.
Newest versions of gcc are becoming as good as MSVC.
All of this for x86, gcc also supports a huge number of platforms.
