I have tried FSDEXT2 at <http://www.yipton.demon.co.uk/>, but it seems
to have problems with directories whose names start with a period from
inside a DOS box (though Explorer can see them). The author has GPL'd
the source, but it requires a commercial VXD tool package called
VtoolsD ($495).

Does anyone here know if someone else has attempted this task? If not
for Win9x, then maybe for native DOS? I'm not interested in NT
solutions, since I don't have NT and don't want it.

Alternatively, does anyone know if there are any VXD tool packages out
there which are compatible with DJGPP GCC and provide similar or
approximate functionality as VtoolsD? I'd be willing to hack the
sources to change the toolset if an alternative set were available.

I just want to be able to read the contents of my linux partitions
when I'm booted to Win9x in a DOS box, R/W support is not necessary.
