From the 'info rhide' documentation, and a search of the index in which 
'redirecting stderr' is found, the following passage reads:

redirect stderr
...............

Turn this on, if you want to redirect the output to stderr of your program
to a window in the IDE. This is also needed, if you want to use the
builtin analyzing of a call frame traceback, when your program crashes.
