I think the problem is a cheap video card, I have the same situation
when I run the grabber. I have a Tamarack VGA with PVGA1A chipset
(i've never heard of it either :) and for some reason all programs
think it can do 640x480x256 when in fact it can only do up to 640x400.
Unfortunately even 640x400 it is unusable with a lot of streaking
everytime the screen get drawn. So since Allegro only supports 256+
colors I must run grabber with 'grabber -320x240' ...
The same problem is evident when I run some of the example programs.
