Do you use disk caching as in smartdrive ? it's enabled by default by
windows 9x but is also available in real dos mode (since dos4 or 5...can't
remember). It will significantly improve disk access and transfer. Also,
you may enable write caching, which will speed up disk writes, but may
cause data loss if your computer shuts down unexpectadly (lock up, reset,
power failure, etc). Use at your own risk.
