Does it detect VESA 3.0 instead ? That's perfectly normal if you didn't
install the FreeBE/AF driver for your card (check it on the main allegro
site). Hardware acceleration is only provided though the FreeBE/AF interface.

Also, I seem to have a problem: on my Matrox Mystique (4MB SGRAM), If I use
the VESA 2.0 driver (by renaming vbeaf.drv) Allegro programs lockup or
reset the computer when I exit them. This doesn't happen with any other
video driver (VESA 1.x, VBE/AF, modex, vga). Perhaps it is a bug in
Allegro. Can anyone confirm this ?
