Correct. In the current 2.9.1 release, ELF supports weak symbols, COFF
doesn't. Current Binutils CVS (and later 2.10.0) also supports weak symbols
for COFF along with ELF.

BTW, if I remember correctly, the old Borland C++ 4.0 used COFF and
supported weak symbols.
