I think one of the first two configurations from section 3.9 of the
FAQ should do. If you can find a disk cache that works out of
conventional memory without eating it all, let it use 256K of low RAM
and go with the second (2-4MB of memory) configuration. If you have
any special problems that don't fit into those suggestions, please
describe them.
(FWIW, the PC Magazine had a conventional-memory disk cache years ago,
so if you can find it on their FTP site, perhaps that's your
solution for fast disk I/O.)
