gxx is a command-line compiler, so don't just click on it, because it 
won't help.  You need to invoke it with the name of the source file at 
the very least.

The file readme.1st includes the section "Getting Started" which explains 
how to invoke the compiler.  The FAQ also explains it near the beginning.

If your problem with readme.1st is that clicking on it doesn't help, 
rename it to readme.txt and try again.
