I downloaded Allegro 3.11 recently from
www.talula.demon.co.uk/allegro/

If this is not the latest version, then where can I get it?

The problems I had occurred with the Allegro test programs.
I had no mouse driver installed, had booted in DOS (I use
Windows 98) and compiled Allegro without any problem. I
tried to run setup and it crashed with a GPF after
displaying the main menu. Then I tried the demo and it hung
my machine after the intro. I installed a mouse driver and
everything worked fine (except for the VBEAF driver for the
ET6000, but that's another story).

I wrote my own Allegro program without any mouse support
and it worked fine, even without a mouse driver. That's why
I didn't bother anymore with setup and demo.

Clemens
