If, by "distribution," you include an installer for a standardized set of
components, I agree fully. When I decided to take C language classes, I
initially bought some books during vacation time. I then searched for "free
compilers" and found DJGPP and some others. Over time, I've pared away all of
the C and C++ compilers except LCC. (LCC is a port of gcc to Win 95, and is
free, but no longer supported.) Why do I use LCC? Because I didn't have to
struggle with it. Its installer worked correctly, the first time. It's saved
my butt in C class. But I'll be looking again in the Fall, when C++ starts.
Include RHIDE and DFE95. Include Allegro and a standardized set of libraries
for it.
And yes, a standard GUI interface, so that programs can have a consistent look
and feel, would also help.

Someone in this thread said that it is coming along very well. Maybe their
project will be influenced to include 32-bit support. If not, create a 16-bit
compiler version and include it in the package. Put FreeDOS into that
installation program also.
3. One more thing. Have someone write one of those intro to programming
books, and include the whole DJGPP set on CD. Get it into the bookstores and
computer stores.
