The simple commands to invoke GCC from the command line are explained
in the file README.1ST which comes with DJGPP.

I meant to find out whether compiling from the command line avoids the
"Bad command or file name" message.

It probably wasn't failing.  But I cannot look into a problem that
disappeared.  If it ever re-appears again, be sure to report here.
