To tell you the truth, I've never gotten up the courage to read the massive
tex file for GCC... I've just stuck with RHIDE. But I assume that
compilation would work from teh command line, since it works ok from
DJGPP...

But this is too wierd....I reinstalled DJGPP yesterday because I was having
some unrelated OS problems (I reinstalled EVERYTHIGN) and it's not giving me
that error anymore! Gone! Pfut! I went to get you hat complete output line
this-morning and the error has disappeared... could it be something wrong
with the path? I don't see how, since DJGPP finds all the other binearies
like gcc and ld..

I'd still like to know why my programs still compiled and ran if the call to
AS was failing...
