Yes that's the best, but this problem can be fixed in 1.4 just doing the 
steps showed in:

1) The Eli's FAQ.
2) the gnu/gcc-2.81/problems.txt file.

Of course downloading 1.4.7 is the best thing to do. Even when 1.4.7 have a 
silly bug that lets the temporal directories and you must delete the 
temporals periodically ;-)
