Per your querry about the mouse:
You need to have dos load your mouse driver when it runs dos
programs. i havent had this error in windows dosEmu, but you have to
have your mouse driver loaded when your in truedos. Check your mouse
information on how to call it from your config.sys and autoexec.

here's my question:
is anybody there familiar with allegro? if so, i need some help with
displaying bitmaps and allegro's scaling / blit functions. i have a
crappy hard drive and i cant fit all of the docs on it. anybody have a
quick answer to the best way to blit pcx/bmp images while preserving
their original formats and pallettes?

thanks
