Talk to the people who are already involved with such ports (there is 
a link to XWinAllegro on the main Allegro page, and to a console mode 
Linux port in the work-in-progress section). A lot of work is already 
being put into this task, and it will obviously be more productive if 
you contribute to that rather than starting some new port of your own...
