Is the latter part absolutely necessary to prevent the problems?  If
it is, it would indicate that DJGPP programs somehow make invalid
accesses of DOS memory.
I'm afraid it is.

So what number did you put there?
I think it was 560Kb because windows told that it could not provide higer than that when I tried higer amounts.
