Oh! I thought he was talking about "ANSI C" (as in the C89 standard) vs.
"K&R C" (as in Kernighan and Ritchie). ANSI C introduced a new syntax
for
declaring arguments to functions. By escape sequences, I thought he
might
have meant trigraphs! (With C9X around the corner, even the term ANSI C
is becoming ambiguous.)
Using the ANSI.SYS driver simply interprets characters in a different
way
than normal. No compiler support is needed. I've even used ANSI.SYS
commands to put the time & date at the corner of the screen by
incorporating
them into the DOS prompt. Just output the right characters and ANSI.SYS
will interpret 'em! :-)
