STOP THE PRESSES.

This is definitely *not* the thing to do on a generic Win98 installation.
Win98 (and 95 as well, AFAIK) *does* use more than one copy of autoexec.bat.
In the essence there are separate versions for booting straight into
Windows, and for booting to DOS 7 (or a previous DOS version, for that
matter). These are called autoexec.dos and autoexec.w40 (or autoexec.win),
and one of them will be copied over to the name autoexec.bat, depending on
the user's choice in the bootup menu(es).
