Circuit Cellar Ink (www.circellar.com) ran two articles on this.
One in the #97 (August '98) issue used anonymous pipes. Object
Pascal code is at:
    ftp://ftp.circuitcellar.com/CCINK/1998/Issue_97/pipeit.zip

The other article was in #87 (October '97) and used a VxD to create
a "wormhole" for DOS-to-Win32 interprocess communication. Visual
C code:
    ftp://ftp.circuitcellar.com/CCINK/1997/Issue_87/WMHOLE.ZIP

The text of the articles is not available from www.circellar.com,
alas.
