Allegro is a library for C/C++. It contains many functions, mainly game
related, such as setting the video mode, blitting stuff to the screen, sound
control, alternative mouse and keyboard handlers and loads of other stuff.
If you are at all interested in game programming it is worth a look (if not
for use, then to have a look at the source to see how it does things). In
fact, you don't even need to use it for game programming and there have been
quite a few "serious" programs written with the aid of Allegro.
