`fnsplit' in DJGPP v2.01 doesn't support Windows 9X at all (try calling
it on a file name like ".emacs"). It is a compatibility function that
was originally designed to work like its namesake from Borland C (which
also doesn't support long names).

In v2.02 `fnsplit' will handle long file names correctly, and the MAXxxx
constants will be enlarged accordingly.
