Your solution is simple in one respect:  don't use RHIDE to build
Allegro.  It was designed to be built with the GNU Make tool, which can
be downloaded and installed like any other DJGPP package.  Once you have
it, go to the Allegro directory and type "make".

If you try Make and still have trouble building the library, post again
with the specific error messages.  Thanks!
