I have noticed that everytime LD is executed, it accesses my E:
drive (which is a CD-ROM on my computer). This happens both under Windows
95 and DOS. Under Windows 95 it causes my CD-ROM drive to spin up if it
has spun down, causing a 2 or 3 second delay. Under DOS it causes the
drive to spin up only the first time I run LD after rebooting into DOS.
Why is this? Was it hardcoded to search for something on drive E: in LD
in binutils 2.8.1? Will a later release of binutils still have this
behavior? And finally, is there anything I can do to stop this behavior?
