I have a four button gamepad, and a P200...when I tried to add joystick to
my game when it was running in excess of 100fps it certainly didn't register
left on the joystick. This was ALlegro 3, no wip.

I assume that if I tried again now with the fps around 30 I'm sure I'd have
better results...

The PC just hasn't time to poll the joystick at such high frame rates.  It's
not a bug.
