I bet djgpp folks appreciate having mingw32 related questions on their
forum ;-)

Somebody forwarded me the message guessing - correctly - that I don't read
this newsgroup. You really need to join Gnu-Win32 mailing list (see Cygnus
Gnu-Win32 project page http://www.cygnus.com/misc/gnu-win32/ for more info
on how to join) where you'll find others who might've had the same problem.

FYI, EGCS Mingw32 home page is at:

  http://www.xraylith.wisc.edu/~khan/software/gnu-win32/

With that out of the way, with the information you've supplied, there is
no way for me to tell what is wrong! What version of mingw32 egcs (or are
you using FSF Mingw32, ie., the one based on 2.8.1?)? How much memory do
you really have? Enough disk space left? What OS version are you running;
Win95 OSR2, WinNT 4.0? So on and so forth.

Unless there is an odd bug I don't know about, the only reason for this
message is when you run out of memory!
