I don't think it's better.  I needed to patch it a lot at the time, since 
there were a few problems with 8+3 file names.  I didn't want to do 
all that job again for 2.02f (the maintainer didn't apply the patches I 
sent to him), and the changes from 2.02e were minimal.  So I didn't 
install 2.02f.
