There are some BIOS that have VESA 3.0. For example: The machine 
where I'm writing this mail have an AGP board with nVIDIA RIVA 128 
chip and the BIOS supports VESA 3.0 so isn't a thing that only 
Display Doctor supports. 
VBE/AF drivers have LFB and acceleration so they are MUCH faster that 
VESA 2, that's a fact.
