OK, you're using DFE'95 (saves typing).

Windows 98 should not be a problem (unless it's more of an upgrade than
Microsoft have announced, which is unlikely).

Firstly, check AUTOEXEC.BAT again. Check SET PATH= is set to your djgpp
directory. Also check for SET DJGPP= which should point to your DJGPP.ENV
file. That's in the docs. Check config.sys and make sure FILES= is greater
than 16 (mine's set to 40).

You don't say whether you can compile in DOS mode. Write a "Hello" program
in DFE, save it to disc then enter DOS. Type "gcc hello.exe hello.c" and see
if you have a problem there. If so, the problem is not with DFE but with
your set up of DJGPP itself. Try consulting the FAQ which you should find in
one of your installed directories.

If the problem is with DFE, then I suggest you mail the author about the
problem.
