In the file http://www.phys.uu.nl/~oti/src/tpoly2.zip, subdirectory
display, are the files vga.h, vga.c, vesa.h, vesa.c which perform simple
VESA and VGA 8 bpp functions and can be used more or less standalone.
The code has been liberally pinched from Allegro 2.2 itself, so don't
hesitate to check out the original Allegro 3.0 vesa routines if you're not
satisfied with it -- for instance 15/16/24/32 bpp routines.
