I started porting some programs written for a Vax that use
large uninitialized static arrays and discovered that the
djgpp stub clears the "BSS" section. This causes a lot
of paging and slow startup even if the program only uses
a small part of the array.

This doesn't happen for malloc'ed address space.

Is this a matter of a patch to the stub, or does it depend
on DPMI features that are not supported by all
implementations?
