Seems like Marek won't finish it. I tried it with 5 versions that he sent me
without any success.

In addition to the X11 port that other sugested I'll sugest you to take a look
at a library called JLib, isn't as complete as Allegro, but works under Linux
(console & X), DOS (DJGPP & Watcom(?)), Win32, etc.
