The hat ought to be used, as long as you have selected the FSPro
joystick type. Please check this in the setup program using both Allegro
3.0 and the recent WIP version, and let me know exactly what happens:
does it fail to use a hat input at all, or just not get the right values
from it?

Can the ProPad emulate a normal analogue stick? Many digital joypads
have their own custom interfaces, in which case you will be unable to
use it with Allegro (unless you write a new driver for it, of course).
Assuming that it does have an analogue compatibility mode, and that you
are using this mode, this would indicate some problem in the Allegro
code. I'm afraid that it is pretty much impossible to debug hardware
conflicts remotely, so your only good options are to investigate
yourself and try to find a fix, or to buy me a ProPad for testing :-)
