I will agree that in light of experience, LFN=N has proved to be
counterproductive. I disagree that it was a stupid decision. Everybody has
20/20 hindsight.

You will find people who will differ with this. Even if you do not intend
offense with words like "stupid", it may well be taken. That can boomerang;
people who are offended are less apt to consider your ideas. It pays to be
courteous. (A certain Mr. Schoenfeld on another thread is a shining example
of this, indirectly.)
