Make sure that your BLASTER environment variable contains the proper
settings for your new card (as opposed to the settings for the old
one).  Make sure that the AWE64 is configured properly for Plug and Play
in both DOS and Win95.

I have an AWE64 and have never experienced any problems with it,
although I did have to go back and reconfigure most of my DOS games.
