Hmmm - I have heard other people who have trouble with 
patch on both linux and solaris platforms as well.  This is always
with regards to patching gcc (or egcs) though to pgcc.  Those patches tend to
be huge (200K+), and also usually contain rejects, or patches that
will only apply with a varying fuzz factor or such.  I've never seen
djgpp patch crash either, but my use of it has been fairly restricted.

I could never go back to old when anyway since I need the build in 
clearcase support that the new snapshots have.
