As I understand it, basic etiquette states that you should post messages
in the same language as the majority of the participants in the
discussion. However, I don't know if there is a formal netiquette rule,
nor has anybody that I know of come out and said that English is the
"official" language of comp.os.msdos.djgpp. On the other hand, if I
subscribed to one of the es. newsgroups, most of the traffic would be in
Spanish and I might get flamed for posting in English. So it evens out.

If you want to send messages to individual newsgroup subscribers, the
best policy is probably to send them via private email, regardless of
their content or what language you use. That is a general rule of
netiquette. There are exceptions to every rule, though, and since DJGPP
is an international phenomenon, we usually don't flame people who post
in another language because they don't write English well, even though
by doing so they are sharply limiting the number of people who might be
able to understand what they are asking and help them.
