And another thing to consider: 4dos (the command.com replacement) is
actually an EXE-file (with header and MZ and such) and is named
4dos.com. The 4dos docs says that the only reason to name it .COM is
because some older programs expect them to have this extension. And I
am very very sure that 4dos won't crash your computer, and it has been
doing so since DOS v3.3.
