That's strange, I compiled the examples some days ago. It just failed to 
link because I used gcc 2.8.0 and they provide C++ pre-compiled libraries. Now 
I have the sources of the package and I'll try to compile it, but after some 
vacations ;-).

Are you using gcc 2.8.0? then try 2.7.2.1.
