This error usually means you have a non-DJGPP compiler program somewhere
on your PATH (cpp.exe and ld.exe are the two main culprits) that is
getting run instead of the proper DJGPP program.  Examine your PATH to
make sure this is not the case.

To confirm whether this is indeed the problem, add '-v' to the compiler
flags when you invoke gcc and watch the list of programs it runs.
