I think if you use -Wall and -O switches, you get much of the static 
analysis that Lint was designed to perform.  Just be sure to treat every 
warning as a potential bug.

I think I saw some URL posted here a long time ago.  Try searching the

Judging by their ads, their Lint does a lot of checking (it typically 
takes me about 5-15 minutes to solve the little puzzles they include in 
their ads, although I'm a slow thinker).

I have a clue, but I'd keep it to myself, lest I offend too many people 
here ;-).
