I've just started writing a little tutorial on collision detection.
The only thing that is completed so far is the source code.

It handles bounding box and pixel perfect collisions with a mask
structure. Works with any sized sprites at any colour depth and lets you
save/load sprite masks to file or load sprite masks from allegro
datafiles.
