Right now, if you want to do inline assembly you have to use GAS.  I have a
modified version
of gcc that allows you to use NASM syntax (actually, the whole compiler uses
NASM instead of gnu as), but it won't be release ready until summer maybe.
If you want to create separate assembly routines though than you can use
NASM and just link them in.
